Pillars of Character – HALLWAY GRADE-LEVEL CHARACTER TRAITS
The monthly student recognition awards are based upon character traits and grade-level themes. Teachers nominate their students and there are 7 awards per month, one per grade level, based upon the grade-level theme. Students receive a letter from Mrs. Vaccaro, their certificate, a group photo, the teacher's recommendation form, gift certificate, ribbon, pencils, Elementary and Character Education bracelets, and other positive reinforcement items. Hallways are labeled with banners identifying the specific grade-level theme. These themes continue throughout the grade-level classroom lessons, in addition to being reinforced during classroom presentations by the Guidance Counselor.
There is also a monthly Citizen, Leader, and Principal Award.

Grade 1 - Fair

Grade 3 - Trustworthy
Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends, and country
Grade 4 - Responsible
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others

The Principal Award will also be awarded monthly.
