Discolored Water Issues

Attention Northfield Residents with Discolored Water Issues

New Jersey American Water is aware that several areas throughout Northfield have been experiencing discolored water. Some areas have experienced it more frequently than others. The company apologizes for the inconvenience this issue has caused our customers in Northfield and we want to assure residents that we are working hard to resolve this. The company is completing a series of actions to help us identify the cause of the discoloration and lead us to a solution. These actions include inspecting valves, surveying hydrants, reviewing water quality testing

results, and collecting other data from our system. We are also making changes to our water production facilities.

While we continue to work to address this issue, we want to assure residents that our routine system monitoring does not indicate a health risk. We advise customers to run the cold faucet in your kitchen for a few minutes or until the color has cleared before consuming.

We thank our customers for their patience and we look forward to delivering a solution to rid them of this inconvenience.
