Please use this guide to properly secure your Reflector 2 installation.
Ensure Relector is open. After the program has been started, access the main window by clicking the icon in your notifcation area at the bottom right of your screen.
Clicking the icon will open up the main window. Click the gear and select "Preferences..."
In the preferences window there are two settings we can use to secure our installation.
First we will configure the "On Connection" setting to either "Connect and Hide Device" or "Prompt to Approve". Your choice in this matter will depend on your setting and intended use.
If set to "Prompt to Approve" any time a device connects, you will be required to choose one of the following options: disconnect the device, allow the device and hide, or allow and show. You will also be given the option to 'Remember this device" if it is a frequently used device (e.g. the teacher iPad).
If set to "Connect and Hide Device" devices will be able to connect, but will be hidden upon connection. Clicking the eye will allow the device to display and clicking the eject button will disconnect.
Optionally we can configure our Airplay security. This will allow us to control access to Reflector from Apple devices such as iPhones or iPads. Select Password and then input a password that users will have to enter in order to connect to your device. (please note that even with this setting configured the "On Connection" settings will still apply to Apple Devices. If you are comfortable only configuring the "On Connection" setting, this will do enough to secure your application).
As always if you have any difficulties with configuring your software or this guide, please send an email to email@example.com.
This tutotial will show you how to use Reflector 2. This program can be used to connect Android, Apple, and Chromebook devices to your teacher laptop, allowing the ability to demonstrate on a teacher issued device, or allow students to connect to the projector and show their own work without the need for a piece of physical hardware.
If it is not open already, open Reflector 2 either by double-clicking the desktop icon, or launching it from the start menu.
Once Relector is open, in the bottom right hand corner of your screen you will see the Reflector icon.
This will open up the preferences window for Reflector 2. Of importance is the title at the top of the window. (in this case JWIL-TEST-7). This is the name of your computer, which you will need to select on the device you are hoping to connect.
On the device you are looking to connect, open up the settings which control casting to other devices and select the name noted above as the cast destination.
